2010 Tournament Series
The tournament this year will be a money tournament with prizes
for the most tarpon caught and released in each of two divisions, pro and amateur.
Fishing may take place anywhere in Texas waters. Boats
may launch from any Texas port, but must return on the water directly from fishing without being trailered.
Catch and release will be verified by recording the catch
and release on a video camera that will be provided by the tournament to each team, along with a required DNA sample taken
from each tarpon to verify that each tarpon caught on camera is a unique fish. If anyone challenges a winner, the entire
winning team must pass a lie-detector test conducted at the equally shared expense of the challenging team and the winning
team.
Prize money will only be awarded for first place in each division
and will vary based on the number of entries. Second place in each division will be an engraved fishing reel.
An award will also be given for the most tarpon tagged with PAT tags, regardless of division entry.
Biologists from the University of Miami and the University of Texas Marine Science Institute
will be on hand to place PAT (satellite tracking tags) in tarpon that participants may catch during the tournament.
This
is a unique opportunity for anglers to have these expensive, high-tech tags placed in tarpon that they catch. The Team
that places the most satellite tags in tarpon during the Tournament will be crowned the 2010 Tarpon Tomorrow Tournament
Series Champion.
